The Engine My 300 Etc. 300 History

The Early Years
Beginning in 1955, Chrysler Corporation released the most powerful car in production to date: The Chrysler 300. Sporting 300 horsepower, 1,725 were made, selling at around $4,100. In 1957, fins were added to the body, as well as the option of getting a convertable. The horsepower now totaled 390. In 1958, Chrysler released a version of the 300 with fuel injection-- the first time a computer was used in a Chrysler car. The 1960 model is one of the most desirable years of the 300. Available with up to 413 horsepower, it also included an ram induction intake manifold.
Fins graced (?) the Chrysler 300 for the last time in 1961, and the front end was redesigned. 1964 set a record for sales of the 300, who's engine boasted 360hp.
