Welcome to my '87 Volkswagen Jetta project site. This project actually originated with an engine from a VW bug my dad left in his mom's basement for 25+ years. When I came along and decided to rebuild it, I found out that it was missing most of it's parts. I sold what was left, but my desire to work on Volkswagen's remained. When I found out a friend was selling his 87 Jetta (with 289,000 miles on it), I couldn't pass it up. Pictures will be updated as I progress. Enjoy! (Pictures are in the order they were taken.)

Got my new FK shocks and springs today! Ordered from NGP Racing. Got the 35/40 drop cup kit.
06/13/09
Finished cutting out the rusty plugs in the floor.
3/17/09
Began prepping for painting.
1/10/09
Continued sewing new upholstry for front seat. Upholstry for drivers seat headrest is finished. Need black thread to continue.
11/15/08
Bought material for reupholstering. Began stripping seats to use as patterns.
7/21/08
Continued gutting car and painting interior with black rustoleum.
6/28/08
Began gutting interior. Removed seats and door panels, carpeting (found a really old battery, various pens and spare change, etc under the carpet). Window seals need to be replaced.
6/12/08
Drove car onto ramps, assessed and removed back end of exhaust system. Need a new downpipe and muffler. Both handbrake cable missing--bought one at Advance Autoparts, need to buy second. Need to install both.

Painted wiper arms, removed shifter boot, started taking out dash on passenger side.
