My 1987 Chevy TruckThis website is not affiliated with Chevrolet

Welcome to my '87 Chevy truck project site. This truck has been in my family since 1987 when my great uncle purchased it from the dealer. The truck was originally used in Buffalo, NY, but my uncle had the foresight to have the underside coated with rust preventer, so the rust damage is limited to the fenders and some surface rust.

Jobs Completed
July 2011
Ripped out the rusty section in the rear fenders. Coated with POR-15 (I love this stuff, even though I get it all over myself everytime I use it. Pop-riveted in a metal backing, filled the hole with bondo, sanded it and hit it with red Rustoelum. The red paint matches surprisingly well, and the patch doesn't look all bad for a temporary job until I can replace the whole fender. It looks a heck of a lot better than the bubbled metal/paint and the rust holes.

October 2010
The front gas tank straps on both tanks were rusted out. The gas tank brackets were too rusted to re-use, so new brackets and straps. And one tank had rusted to the bracket. As the gas tanks were taken off, the fused metal stayed connected and ripped a hole in the one tank. So I got one new tank as well.

July 2010
Fixed back hubcap (stopped the rattle), installed CB radio, traced wires for aftermarket switch to figure out what it operates (it's a cut-out switch for the blower).
